Module 1: Understanding User Needs by Empathise
The participant will learn how to Empathise through Interviewing and Observing users. Within Interviewing, the participant will learn how to navigate conversations in order to identify tension, contradiction and surprises and dig deeper to identify users need. As for Observation, the participant will learn how to read users body language during interviews.
Module 2: Reframing User Issues through Define
The participant will learn how to create a problem statement based on learning from users in the form of Point of View.
Module 3: Presenting a user’s Point of View through Storytelling
The participant will learn how to communicate the user’s Point of View through Storytelling. Within this activity, the student will learn how to prioritise information during storytelling.
Module 4: Focusing and Flaring through Ideation.
The participant will learn how to generate ideas using constrains. Afterwards, they will learn how to evaluate and choose ideas that are suitable for their users.
Module 5: Rapid Learning through Rapid Prototyping
The participant will learn how to build their ideas in forms of experiential low-fidelity prototypes. Afterwards, the participant will learn how to gather feedback from testing using their prototypes.
The programme covers the fundamentals of Design Thinking: process, mindsets and behavioural principles.
Through the flare and focus phase of the Design Thinking process, participants develop familiarity in using frameworks and tools to work through a real world project challenge. Reflection on behaviours and practices that worked on a personal and team level are also key parts of the programme.
At the end of the programme, participants will be able to gain sense of confidence to try, implement and change things within their capacity to then further expand their comfort zone, whilst being guided by user’s need.
